Webinar Description:
You and your staff spend your day giving direction to the children, and the children go home and are told by their parents that that rule doesn’t apply to them. The child comes back to school the next day and you give a direction, and the child (who is probably quite confused) tells you that “Mommy said I don’t have to do that”.
Ouch! What do you do with that comment? You might be able to ignore it once, but not more. Children today are very savvy. They know how to play one adult against the other. So you meet and talk to the parents … but they won’t move from their position. Where do you go from there? This webinar will help you decide how do approach this difficult position of being in conflict with the parent on center directions.
Webinar Learning Objectives:
The learner will be able to…
- Identify at least three situations where there have been or could be conflict in center vs. parent positions
- Explain how you would approach a parent to have this discussion
- Develop a plan for what to do if you cannot come to a unanimous decision
